For large amounts ($5K and up) via wire transfer, the best way is thru OmniPay. It's a three step process, 1) register, 2) link/verify your e-gold account, and 3) enter a security code they mail to your physical address.
After which you can send wire transfers to OmniPay. I believe the minimum is $2k, practically no maximum. The name on the bank account must match the name you register with OmniPay.
For lesser amounts, easiet to use a third-party exchanger. Beware, try to find a reputable one. There is no "certification" process for exchangers, therefore there are less than reputable operations offering e-gold funding.
Wire transfer is still the most common method of funding.
